Citi bank statements to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks

CitiBusiness Online documents its own CSV and QuickBooks/Quicken Web Connect downloads. For a personal Citi account, an older statement, or a batch of statements a client handed you, Arkrel reads the PDF and checks its balances before converting it to QuickBooks CSV, Xero CSV, OFX, Excel, CSV or JSON.

How it works

  1. 1Upload the statement PDF, digital or scanned, from any bank.
  2. 2Arkrel checks the opening balance, every credit and debit, and the closing balance, and the running balance on every row where the statement prints one.
  3. 3Download QuickBooks CSV, Xero CSV, OFX, Excel, CSV or JSON, with the exact line flagged if a check fails.

What Citi documents about downloads

That's documented for CitiBusiness Online specifically; Citi's personal (consumer) online banking export options aren't confirmed here, so check the download option inside your own Citi account.

When to convert the PDF instead

For a personal Citi account, for Citi activity outside whatever your account's own download option currently reaches, or for years of statements you're catching up on for a client, the PDF statement is what you're actually working from.

QuickBooks Online can extract some PDF and image bank statements directly, and Xero can import a PDF bank statement for eligible US and Canadian organizations, excluding Xero Ledger. Either is a reasonable first stop for a recent, clean Citi PDF you're entering for the first time. Arkrel is built for the harder cases: years of older Citi statements, a mix of scanned and digital files, several statements at once, or any PDF you want checked against its own printed balances before it goes into your books.

Every statement checked before you download

Arkrel doesn't need a Citi template. It reads the transaction table in any bank's PDF and checks the arithmetic before you can download anything: the opening balance, plus every credit, minus every debit, must equal the closing balance, and on a statement that prints a running balance, each row must follow from the one before it. A statement that fails either check is still exported when you ask for it, but the download is marked, and the dashboard or free tool shows exactly which check failed and on which line.

Worth knowing

CitiBusiness Online's FAQ recommends its Web Connect format (.QBO or .QFX) over .QIF or .CSV specifically because Web Connect keeps track of transactions you've already imported and helps you avoid duplicates; a plain CSV or QIF download has no such tracking built in.

Does Arkrel work with Citi statements specifically?
Yes. Arkrel reads the transaction table in any bank's PDF, so it doesn't depend on a Citi template: upload a Citi statement, checking, savings or credit card, and it checks the opening balance, every credit and debit, and the closing balance the same way it checks any bank's PDF.
What if I only have a scanned or photographed statement?
That works the same way. Arkrel processes a scanned or photographed statement the same as a digital PDF, and runs the same balance checks either way.
Does Citi offer a CSV or QuickBooks download?
CitiBusiness Online's own FAQ documents Web Connect (.QBO or .QFX) downloads into QuickBooks or Quicken, plus plain .QIF or .CSV downloads. That's documented for CitiBusiness Online; check the download option inside your own Citi account for what it offers, then convert whatever PDF statements you're working from with Arkrel.
