Behind on bookkeeping? Start with one tax year
A year of unfinished bookkeeping starts with one manageable task: choose the year and gather its statements.
Arkrel helps US self-employed people organize those records for tax preparation. You can begin with one statement free, from upload through merchant review and My year.
1. Choose the year
Write down the tax year you want to prepare. Give it its own folder for statements, receipts and supporting records.
If you are working with an accountant, use the year they have requested as your starting point.
2. List the accounts you used
Include bank accounts that received customer payments and cards used for business purchases. Add accounts you closed or stopped using during that year.
This gives you a practical list to work through as you collect the files.
3. Gather the statements and receipts
Download the statements and sort them by account and month. Keep receipts and invoices alongside them so you can refer to the details of a purchase.
Make a short collection list for any months you still need to download.
4. Review one statement
Upload a statement to Arkrel. Work through the merchant review using what you know about your business and the purchases you made.
Then open My year to see the income and spending from that statement.
5. Bring the year into a report
Catch-Up includes Schedule C totals, a cash-basis profit and loss report, likely deductions to review and an accountant-ready transaction file.
Catch-Up is $499 per tax year with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Autopilot is $49/month with a 14-day free trial for keeping the current year organized.
