Bank connections

Bring bank statements into Arkrel with Plaid.

In Settings, open Connections and choose Connect a bank. Catch-Up requests Statements only, imports your purchased tax year and ends access at Plaid after import or when your entitlement ends. Imported statements stay in Documents under the same retention setting as uploads after bank access ends. Ongoing activity and refresh require an active Autopilot subscription. Autopilot brings in new statements for the current year. An owner or admin can connect after setting up an authenticator app or passkey and confirming their identity.

Statements and recent activity

Each available statement enters the same document processing and page allowance as an upload. Review its merchants and open My year or your tax report as usual. Recent bank activity helps you follow the account while you wait for the next statement. The connections API returns transactions_enabled as a boolean for each item. Recent activity appears only for connections with transactions enabled whose status is neither disconnected nor disconnecting. Your books come from statement documents. When your page allowance is used up, imports pause before downloading more statements. Add pages to continue. Automatic retries back off from one hour up to one day and reuse any PDF already downloaded. A failed PDF shows a plain reason and does not block other statements. Missing periods stop refreshing after three attempts; upload those PDFs. If a statement is not available through your bank connection, you can upload its PDF.

Statement retention

Bank-imported statements use the same retention setting as uploads. After that period, Connections shows Removed after the retention period. The API returns removal_reason as retention, deleted or disconnect, with document_id set to null. Removed statements are not downloaded again or charged again on reconnect. You can upload their PDFs directly. Import receipts survive Disconnect and bank access ending. Only account deletion removes those receipts. Each document link belongs to the connection that imported it.

Reconnect and disconnect

Choose Reconnect when your bank needs you to sign in again. Disconnect stops access through Plaid and removes the connection, recent activity and imported statement documents. Retired connections have no Disconnect control. Imported statements stay in Documents under the same retention setting as uploads after bank access ends. You can delete them from Documents. A direct DELETE for a retired connection returns 409 BANK_CONNECTION_RETIRED. Reconnecting also returns 409 BANK_CONNECTION_RETIRED if bank access ends before reconnection finishes. Account deletion also removes connected Items at Plaid.
